Course Outline

It’s essential to understand where you are at in your eating journey and discover the drivers that are contributing to your existing eating habits (good or bad).

In this module, Michelle walks you through her process for finding your inner motivations, so that can set specific goals around your eating habits and effectively work towards achieving them.

Most of us have tried dieting many times only to end up tried, hungry and cranky when we fail to stick to them.

In this module, Michelle will teach you the science behind diets (and how they create a restrictive, controlling relationship to food) so that you can break your dependency on them and let go of the idea that a lack of willpower is why you have failed.

Awareness is the key to breaking free from the ‘highway hypnosis’ of food — that automatic urge that tells you to reach for food for comfort, regardless of how hungry you actually are.

Michelle shares how to press pause before you turn to food so that eating becomes a more conscious habit. You will come away from this module with a clear understanding of how to identify your body’s hunger signals, so that you can rebuild trust with food and yourself.

Ignoring cues of fullness can lead to overeating. Now that you have learnt how to identify hunger, it’s time to reconnect with the messages your body sends after you have eaten.

In this module, Michelle will help you tune into the eating process and take note of how you feel after you eat. You will discover how to listen to how your body feels after eating so that you can experiment with natural curiosity around eating rather than sticking to rigid rules.

Reclaiming our love of all foods and allowing for all foods is key to no longer worrying about cravings, reducing emotional overeating and overall mental wellbeing.

In this class, you will learn how to make peace with the foods you’ve struggled with most. Michelle will show you how to reintroduce foods back into your diet without feeling triggered to overeat so that you can finally stop the cycle of feeling shame guilt and frustration from overeating.

Boredom, rebellion, loneliness, stress and seeing food can all be triggers for emotional eaters. Learning how to overcome these roadblocks will help you continue to have the foods you love without overeating.

In this module Michelle shows you how to work out what triggers make you feel out of control and how to stop eating when feeling strong emotions.

Forget worrying about powders or supplements; this module focuses on small steps to get more nutrients into your diet. Our body needs macronutrients such as fats and protein and micronutrients, to keep everything functioning.

Michelle shows you how to avoid confusing nutrition advice and choose more of the foods that will make you feel great and help fuel your body.

The more we engage in things that bring us joy and move our body in ways that feel good the less control food will have over us.

In this module, you will come away with an understanding that the more you learn to take care of yourself, the less control food will have over you. Michelle shows you how to move forward with self-care, so that you learn to focus on the good no longer operate from a place of judgement and criticism.

In this final module, we wrap things up into a nice little package and set down the groundwork to make these changes life-long. We’ve also created a special masterclass to arm you with everything you need for when diet culture sneaks back in.

Yikes! #awkward. Seriously though, that's a good question! Like any programme/course/training or anything like this. The results are based purely on what you put into it, the actions you take, the decisions you make and the time you put into it etc. etc. etc. I can’t make any promises or guarantees because I don’t know you! And while I’m here to support you, I can’t MAKE you do anything right? What I can tell you though, that this course has been set up to make things a lot easier for you to succeed if you do the work and take action on it.

Ah, geez. You're really putting me on the spot today! Honest answer, I don’t know. If you have excess weight on your body due to an unhealthy relationship with food you might lose weight on this programme but all bodies and circumstances are different and so there is no way to say. Empowered Eating is a non-diet approach to having a healthy relationship to food (diets are usually the things that screw us up in the first place, and you can’t heal from what hurt ya!). That said, Empowered Eating is still very much a health-promoting choice. It can help you find what a healthy weight is for your body, based on your natural set-point weight (your genetic blueprint) and a set of healthy behaviours, not based on a number on the scale. Empowered Eating works under the general idea that health is a feeling not a look. Coo?

You sure can! I actually recommend it. Remember how we’re getting away from diets? That also means that this course does not give you any strict rules or meal plans – just some inspiration and tips to make meal planning super easy. If you need additional support with your condition and specific advice, you may want to work with one of our nutritionists along the way. Any advice should NEVER replace that of your GP and/or medical professionals.

I don't know... do you? The beauty of this course is you can spend as little or as much time as you’d like. The modules open up weekly and each module has some activities and reading as well as videos to watch. Overall, you can do this course in just 10 min a day, or 30 min or so a week. Maybe a quick read once the kids are in bed or on a break at work. If time is particularly short, I'd start by treating it as simply some learnings and read a bit each day. You can go back and do the tasks and activities when you have more time.

Because epic experiences take epic amounts of time. There's a lot involved in setting this programme up including fancy boxes and special stickers. Not only that but I intend to give you 100% and that kind of dedication takes up a lot of time and energy - no matter how much I love it! So! Yep, twice per year but well worth the wait. If you're a keen bean and you really want to dig in... you can always do the self-study option now and upgrade when doors re-open.

It helps. This course is 100% online and so there is some basic understanding of the web and apps needed to do this programme. That being said, if you're comfortable with online meetings, sending emails and shopping online, for example, you'll be able to do this programme. We're here to help!

The Empowered Eating course supports many different learning styles. Each online video comes with downloadable information. You'll also have access to physical workbooks, an entire course load of work in itself that helps you to learn from anywhere. What price tag would you put on completely changing your relationship with food, so that you have health and vitality, without losing your shit around food? I decided on $547 which is crazy low. I know I've seen a few other programmes out there and they are charging quadruple amounts for something like this (and they don't offer a sweet sweet care package. That being said, I never want price to be a barrier, get in touch and we can work out options.

Hi! I’m Michelle…

I was the school weirdo.

I know what it’s like to be different and thanks to that I wanted to create something different. I was that sweet, slightly weird 80’s kid with a ‘few extra Kg’s’, the perm and some sweet as bottle cap glasses. Basically, a walking target for those mean kids.

That being said, if I hadn’t had the experiences I had and spent most of my life ‘fitting out’ I wouldn’t have been able to create this programme – because trying to ‘fit in’ is what got us into this mess in the first place. Let’s be rebels, let’s be slightly weird together and lets’ do things differently for a change – because let’s face it. It’s hip to be square.
